PPLH Bahorok is managed by Yayasan Ekosistem Ecosystems (Yel) were intended to promote the establishment and care of all layers of society, either individually or collectively impact on the environment around them. So the damage and environmental problems caused by human activities of daily life can be reduced or even avoided and the benefits can continue to be felt by society in a sustainable manner.

This is realized through several programs PPLH Bohorok which is closely related to each other and support each other, namely:

1. Education and Outreach Program, which focuses on environmental education, orangutan conservation education, environmental health, assistance for community development and empowerment and disaster management in the western coastal areas of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD).
2. Organic Agriculture Program, which focuses on organic farming issues by managing the pilot project on organic farming (ecofarming center) and support for empowerment and community development in some areas of North Sumatra (especially in sub Bohorok).
3. Environmental Education Program, is engaged in awareness activities through environmental education conducted in PPLH Bohorok, schools and other places in the wider community. While the activities undertaken by this program focuses on training, visits schools, encouraging schools to visit and learn to PPLH Bohorok, making the activities of the seminar / exhibition (warning related environmental issues), making the campaign materials and others.
4. Eco-Lodge Bukit Lawang Cottage, which focused on the development of inns, restaurants, organic gardens that are ecologically managed, and management and development of media other environmental education.

Bohorok PPLH has developed Environmental Education programs for all ages since the beginning of the year 2000. Existing programs in PPLH Bohorok not only introduces outdoor activities are simply a physical challenge, but also develop the curiosity of various natural phenomena and social problems, which are all supported by a variety of learning media and existing facilities.

How to get there
You can reach PPLH Bahorok using ground transportation from the Integrated Terminal Line Pinang - Singapore, using a small car (kind of travel) or large car (bus) purpose Bukit Lawang. Distance from Medan to PPLH Bohorok 96 km or about 3 hours.
